i have missed several weeks.  i apologize.  i have been quite busy though.

here goes last night’s rundown:

melinda:  i thought she looked very beautiful and sang very well.  it was pretty boring, but she still did really well and the only criticism is the boringness.

lakisha:  it was a little fast for her.  i felt like she couldn’t catch her breath so it was kinda hard to watch.. kinda like i couldn’t breathe either.  haha weird i know.  it was okay.  i think she’s gonna be gone soon though.

chris:  i hate that song.  but he did okay.  i don’t know.  i want him gone because he sounds the same every week.

haley:  she needs some grit in her voice.  she doesn’t need to sound broadway or disney every time.  that was a good song to sing with some grit.  she needs to go too.

phil:  i don’t like him.  he cracked too much.  i want him gone too.

blake:  i thought he did pretty well.  there were some tuning problems, but he sang it well.. dare i say he kinda impressed me

jordin:  i like her a lot.  i think the song was boring.

sanjaya:  he sounded like a 14 year old yes.  he could have done a lot better.  well maybe he couldn’t have, but it could have sounded a lot better.  i like diana krall singing it.  watch him go this week because he did okay for once.

this was a pretty boring episode.  i watched my dvr’ed episode of run’s house afterwards and it was a lot better.  everyone needs to watch that show.  i love it.

whoa doggies.  my friend from high school leah rush has been drafted into the wnba!

this is not the week i want to have a million tests and a million things due

i know i didn’t do an american idol thingy this week but i promise i will have one for next week 🙂

Brandon Rogers – He really needs to work on song selection.  It was probably better than if he had sang some sort of ballad, but it wasn’t good.  I’m sure he was very nervous, but he has yet to show us his full potential, and he better do it soon or he might be out tonight.

Melinda Doolittle – Fantastic.  I have to admit, I cried during her song.  I was right there with Paula.  Seriously, I’ve said all I can say about her, and she never lets me down.  Dad called and told me that she sang in Shelly Schlotfelt’s brothers’ wedding.  See, we have mutual friends! (sort of..)  I knew I liked her!

Chris Sligh – I didn’t think he did that horrible.  Yeah the song was totally Coldplay, but it wasn’t a total train wreck.  That song is totally cheesy anyway.  I’m glad he changed it up.  But I agree with Simon, put the glasses back on.  A little too much “face.”

Gina Glocksen – I just don’t love her.  I don’t know.  She’s not terrible, but she’s definitely not the best.  Just middle of the road.  I don’t think her edgy-ness makes up for her mediocrity.  She should stay, but she has yet to really impress me.

Sanjaya Malakar – Honestly, I really think he did better than he’s done in his previous performances.  It was pitchy, but he had more energy than he has before.  But, don’t do it on that song.  He probably would have gotten better reviews from the judges if it wasn’t that song.

Haley Scarnato – Poor girl.  I think she’s definitely getting the sympathy vote this week.  I’m glad Simon didn’t beat her down further.  She knew she did bad, and I think he really gave her a boost by telling her it wasn’t that bad.  And Diana Ross saying she has a studio recording voice further proves my point that she should do Disney.

Phil Stacey – I just can’t stand him.  His vocals aren’t horrible or anything (although he does yell a lot), I just don’t like watching him and I think he’s arrogant.  He kind of looks like a furby.

LaKisha Jones – Homegirl brought it.  She’s fantastic too, I just like Melinda better 🙂

Blake Lewis – Pretty good, the dancing was a little much though.  At least the intro-dance.  I don’t think his vocals are as strong as they need to be, but everything else about him makes up for it.

Stephanie Edwards – She was pretty boring.  She sang it, but it wasn’t really anything special.  And there’s something weird about her vibrato.  I don’t know.

Chris Richardson – His voice just sometimes gets on my nerves, and it did last night.  He is too nasally.  I’m glad he went out into the audience though.

Jordin Sparks – She did really well.  I really like her personality.  I’m glad she acts her age too.  She sort of reminded me of Katharine McPhee last night, just without the “I’m awesome!” attitude, and a little less indulgent.

I pray that Sanjaya is going home, but I’m just not sure.  If it’s not him, it’s probably Haley or Brandon.

Oh that was bullcrap.  Haley should be gone and Sanjaya should be gone.  Freaking bullcrap.  I’m VERY glad Antonella and Jared are gone though.  Sabrina should have stayed for sure.  I think she was going to surprise us.  Sundance should have been given another week, especially over Sanjaya.  I think the poor boy knows he should be gone and probably wants to be gone at this point considering how much criticism he gets.  We can only cross our fingers for next week.

(i wrote this before i watched tonight’s show, i just forgot to post it!  so pretend you don’t know who has gone home..)

Jordin – Good song to show some diversity, but it wasn’t perfect.  I really like her though.  I hope she does well.  She just may be a little young.

Sabrina – Pretty good.  She’s got a lot of potential.  Some shaky spots, but overall pretty darn good.

Antonella – Oh honey.  Don’t sing Corinne Bailey Rae.  You have to be a sweet girl to sing that.  And not dressed like a hooker.  It might have been more believable if she wore some pretty dress.  And didn’t take nudey pictures of herself.  I hope you’re gone tonight.

Haley – She sounds like she should sing at Disney World.  So cheesy.  And it seems like she doesn’t want to be there at all.  Her fiancee doesn’t want her there, and she just “clocks in and clocks out.”  Time to go.

Stephanie – Good, she just sounded like she ran out of breath a lot.  She does sing a lot like Beyonce though.  (Did I say that last time?)

Lakisha – Very good.  They should only let her be allowed to sing Whitney.  Maybe next week she’ll do something a little different.  I hope so.  She needs to show a little variety pretty soon.

Gina – This showed her style a LOT better, but vocally it wasn’t great.  It may just be that Amy Lee is ridiculous and it’s hard to be up to par with her.  I do think Gina’s overrated just because she’s different, but she is still very good.

Melinda – Oh Melinda.  What else is there to say about her?  Flawless every time.  She shows diversity and humility and extraordinary talent each time, and she has fun.  I REALLY would like to see her win.  But she’ll do well no matter what happens.  And her OCD speech was hilarious!

Picks to go:

guys:

Jared and Sanjaya.  I really would like Phil to go though.  He’s full of himself.

girls:

Haley and Antonella.  I think votefortheworst.com might screw it up for Antonella, but hopefully not.
